What is Feng Shui?

Feng Shui (pronounced Fung Schway) Feng Shui is a term composed of 2 chinese words feng (wind) shui (water). The elements of these 2 life giving elements is called chi or life force. Feng Shui is a process of adding more life force or positive energy to an environment. Feng Shui adds balance and harmony to create a more postive and flowing space.

Feng Shui is based on the 5 Elements, which are: Wood, Fire, Earth, Water, Metal.  Feng Shui helps balance the environment using these 5 elements.

Wood in an environment can help foster creativity, expansion, growth and intuition.  Too much wood can cause you to feel overwhelmed.  Too little wood can stagnate growth and creativity.

Fire in an environment can help activate positive emotional interactions between people. Too much fire can create agression and cause impatience and impulsive behavior.  Too little fire creates a cold and dark environment.

Earth in an environment creates stability and order and can even enhance sensuality.  Too much earth creates a heavy and serious space that can look too conservative.  Too little earth can promote clutter, chaos and instability.

Metal in an environment stimulates mental activity and strengths presence of mind, which helps in times of stress.
Too much metal creates mental rigidity, stubborness and a lack of teamwork.  Too little metal can cause procrastination and confusion.

Water in an environment can enhance relaxation, reduce stress, and add to spirituality.  Too much water can cause low productivity and lack of ambition.  Too little water can cause an environment to be a stressful and sarcastic space.

When I do consultations, whether it be for home or office, I look to see if all 5 of the elements of feng shui are present.  If not I look to see what can be done to create more harmony and a better flow of chi.  Have you ever walked into a room and immediately felt comfortable?  That's what I look to create for you.
